Summer at Christmas

Hello everyone.. Candice here with you today

How many of you fell in love with the mermaids and underwater themes this summer? ME!
How many of you feel you didn’t have enough time to create with them? ME!
So I decided I’m starting summer at Christmas since we always have Christmas in July!

To begin my card I die cut a few white peices for the layering on the card.  I trimmed a white peice
to fit a little smaller than my 5x7 card and die cut the scalloped circle.

Next, I die cut the waves using the scalloped die upside down.  I love looking at my dies and seeing
what unique things I can use them for!

The large waves and coral border I die cut using the ocean borders dies.  I die cut the coral twice
because I added some on the inside of the card.

I took the large wave and taped my homemade snow stencil over it and covered with shimmer paste.
While I let that dry, I heat embossed the sentiment in green on the scallop die

To create the underwater snow I repeatedly stamped the snowflakes in versamark, then heat
embossed with white embossing powder, and lightly inked with broken china.

This is where the assembly happens!  I first adhered the snowflake background down and then pop
dotted the circle frame over it.  Next, I pop dotted the large wave covering a little portion of the bottom
of the circle.

To create the shiny coral, I die cut the coral border using red and green foil paper, trimmed them with
scissors and glued over the white coral. I then glued this to the back of the smaller wave and pop
dotted it on the front. I love seeing it coming together!

This is the fun part!  You get to pick which cuties you want to color and put on this great card base!
I chose the mermaid and lots of crabs, since my sentiment goes perfect with them!
My stamps are from two amazing sets, Mermaid Lagoon & Ocean Friends.  I stamped them on
marker paper using memento black ink and then colored them in christmas colors of reds and
greens using copic markers.

After coloring the images, I added some details using a white pen and adhered them to the card, pop
dotted some for dimension. For my embellishments, I added some red & green sequins and a few

I can’t wait to see what you create using your summer stash for winter cards!

Don’t forget to share them on the Craftin Desert Divas Gallery!

Thank you.
Candice
