Stunning Stencils: 5 Fun Ways to Use Stencils on Cards

Stencils are a stamper's best friend

When you need to cover a card base in a hurry or want a little bit of texture added in for interest, stencils are our craft-room go-to! Today we're sharing five fun ways you can use stencils on your cards. To view all the stencils Craftin Desert Divas carries, click here. No, let's get to the stencils!

Five Fun Ways to Use Stencils on your Cards

1. LAYER THEM UP

Caren created two sweet and spooky coordinating cards using our stencils. She shared that when layering ink using stencils, you'll first want to secure your paper with blue painters tape and then secure your stencil with painters tape. For added dimension, Caren applied orange ink using the stencil, then removed the stencil and used the same orange ink to cover the entire panel. Click here for more details on her blog.

2. USE WITH MOUSSE OR PASTE TO CREATE INSTANT DEPTH

Candice's favorite way to use stencils are with pastes or mousses, they add such a great depth and shine to a card without too much work! Click here to read more on her blog.

3. CREATE YOUR OWN REPEAT PATTERN

Maaike used the hexagon square over and over to create her own pattern. By using digital stamps,  crafting is easy and budget-friendly. Click here to read more on Maaike's blog.

4. CREATE REVERSED-OUT AREAS

Anna created an underwater scene with the Polygon stencil - doesn't it look like sparkling ocean water? By covering your image before you ink it, you can "reverse" out areas where the stencil was. Click here to check out Anna's full post on her blog.

5. BUILD A BACKGROUND

Ashlee created this adorable scene using one of our cloud stencils as her card background. We love how just the middle panel peeks out and the monochromatic color scheme!
