Happily Handmade: CAS Shaker Tag Tutorial with Anna

Hi everyone! Anna here today and I’d love to share with you a very CAS (clean and simple) and easy shaker tag design for any occasion (you may even wanna attach one to a mail you sent to a friend).

All you’ll need are a few easy steps, so let’s get to making right away.

STEP 1: Cut Tags

To start with,  I pre-cut tags (4 pieces) using the Craftin Desert Divas Tag It Die.

STEP 2: Die-Cut and assemble shaker area

For the shaker element, I used the star-shaped die and cut it on 2 tag pieces.

Then, I glued the acetate to the inside parts of the shaker element on both pieces.

STEP 3: Add foam tape and add in sequins

Next, I put lots of foam tape at the inside part of each of 2 pieces and put little blue sequins where the shaker part is.

STEP 4: Stamp sentiments and images

When I attached pieces with shaker element to other 2 I pre-cut earlier, I stamped the sentiments with VersaFine black ink. I used two different sentiments from the set.

Then I stamped the images from the same set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and did the coloring. I used color pencils going from light shades to dark ones (I find this way it works better for me).

I also added small images from the set for the background.

STEP 5: Finishing touches

For the final touches, I added strings to each tag in matching color.

And it was done! Simple and awesome way to extra treat any present or mail.

Stamped with Care: Tea Packing Tutorial with Angela

What better way to treat a friend to some cheer than with a handmade tea care package?

Angela is sharing a template as well as an adorable design she created with one of our digital stamps! Keep reading to see how to make your own.
---

Hi everyone, today I'm showing you a Tea Bag packing which I created for a good friend, who is sick.

You’ll need for this packing:
  • 2 different Cardstock Papers
  • Designer paper
  • Dies
  • Digital Stamp
  • Foamtape
  • Ribbon
  • Adhesive
  • Memento Ink Tuxedo Black
  • Copic Marker

Step 1:

For my Tea Bag packing I used a piece of cardstock and cut it with a trimmer to 30 cm x16,5 cm and folded it like the measurements from the template.

Step 2:

Then it’s time for cutting out the Design paper with the largest Die from the Fancy Frame Dies and I decide to distress the edges from the second cardstock.

Before you glue the papers with the Tonic Craft Tacky Glue of the packing it is important to glue the ribbon with Adhesive tape on the backside.

Step 3:

I printed the Digital Stamp Get Well Bunny on a piece of Marker Paper and color it with my Copic markers.

Step 4:

On the inside I folded on the right a little pocket for the Tea Bags and on the left side I glue a piece of white paper, which I also cutted with the largest Die from the Fancy Frame Dies. There I can write some personal greetings.

Step 5:

Cutting out some flowers and a circle from the Inside Scalloped Dies and the butterfly from the Window Pane Dies.

For the sentiment from the Simply Said Stamp Set I use a banner from the Flag Banner Dies.

Step 6:

For the last Step it’s time to decorate the front of the Tea Bag packing with all cutting pieces and some Lollipop Sequins.

I’ll hope you like and enjoyed my Tea Bag packing Tutorial!

Stunning Stencils: 5 Fun Ways to Use Stencils on Cards

Stencils are a stamper's best friend

When you need to cover a card base in a hurry or want a little bit of texture added in for interest, stencils are our craft-room go-to! Today we're sharing five fun ways you can use stencils on your cards. To view all the stencils Craftin Desert Divas carries, click here. No, let's get to the stencils!

Five Fun Ways to Use Stencils on your Cards

1. LAYER THEM UP

Caren created two sweet and spooky coordinating cards using our stencils. She shared that when layering ink using stencils, you'll first want to secure your paper with blue painters tape and then secure your stencil with painters tape. For added dimension, Caren applied orange ink using the stencil, then removed the stencil and used the same orange ink to cover the entire panel. Click here for more details on her blog.

2. USE WITH MOUSSE OR PASTE TO CREATE INSTANT DEPTH

Candice's favorite way to use stencils are with pastes or mousses, they add such a great depth and shine to a card without too much work! Click here to read more on her blog.

3. CREATE YOUR OWN REPEAT PATTERN

Maaike used the hexagon square over and over to create her own pattern. By using digital stamps,  crafting is easy and budget-friendly. Click here to read more on Maaike's blog.

4. CREATE REVERSED-OUT AREAS

Anna created an underwater scene with the Polygon stencil - doesn't it look like sparkling ocean water? By covering your image before you ink it, you can "reverse" out areas where the stencil was. Click here to check out Anna's full post on her blog.

5. BUILD A BACKGROUND

Ashlee created this adorable scene using one of our cloud stencils as her card background. We love how just the middle panel peeks out and the monochromatic color scheme!

Stunning Stencils: Texture Paste Honeycomb Tutorial by Michelle

Whether you need to create a background fast or love texture (or both!), stencils are the perfect cardmaking companion.

They come in a variety of shapes, patterns, and sizes and they're so simple to use. Shop all of our stencils here

Michelle is up on the blog today sharing how she created this adorable "Happy Bee-Day" card! Keep scrolling for a step-by-step tutorial featuring our Sorted Shapes 1 Stencil.

Before you begin:

Other supplies:
Craft spatula (a plastic knife would work too)
Stickles Glitter Glue

Step 1:

I began with my die-cut hexagon and separated the frame from the center.
I taped the center to a protected area on my craft space and secured the stencil over it.

Step 2:

Next, I dabbed some ink onto my workspace than added a small amount of texture paste.
Mix the two together.

Step 3:

Cover the stencil, smooth and even.

Step 4:

Remove the stencil carefully and wash to remove the paste.
Allow the stenciled cardstock to dry.

Step 5:

Dry the stencil and adhere to cardstock.
For this step you can place the stencil anywhere you choose.

Step 6:

Ink up black cardstock with white ink.
When finished, die cut the black cardstock with Fancy Frame Die.

Step 7:

Stamp and color your images.

Copic Color Recipe for the bees:

C1, C3, Y11, Y13, Y15, RV10, RV02, R35, BG11, BG15, YG09.
I stamped the sentiment onto vellum paper and trimmed before adhering.

Step 8:

Lastly, assemble the card onto white cardstock, size A2.
Embellish with sequins, a cord bow and glitter glue!
