Fun Time With Stencil With DT Toni

Hello, Divas!  Toni here with you again today to share one of my favorite ways to use a stencil--by using one with ink on the base then another on top using either a different color ink or embossing paste.  Come, let's take a look at how I created this card.

I started by added Doodlebug Official Stripe Washi Tape, aligning the strips on cardstock. I then cut this out using a Stitched In Circle Die. Do you see a mod beehive like I do? I had also colored and cut out the sweet images from Sweet as Honey. I hadn't noticed the large bees are actually animals inside bee costumes. I'm thinking future Halloween costume cards!

Next I sponged the Hearts Galore Stencil, ombre style, using Distress Ink Mustard Seed and Distress Oxide Squeezed Lemonade. I love these bright, sunny shades! I then used the Sorted Shapes 1 Stencil to randomly emboss honeycombs using Ranger Transparent Gloss Embossing Paste on top of the hearts. I sprinkled glitter (Nuvo Sparkle Dust - Snow Glow) on top of that while the paste was still wet. Some certainly shakes off once dry, but a fair and deliciously sparkly amount remains.

It's hard to capture well, but the glitter adds some lovely sparkle. When you try this technique, you'll find that if you hold the card away from you, the underlayer stenciling may be dominant while closer up, the top layer captures the eyes.  It's a really cool effect! Lastly, I added the Sweet as Honey images, a sentiment from Bee Cakery and a few tiny, tiny heart sequins from the Ladybug mix.

I hope you'll give this double layering stencil technique a try and show it to us!

You have a few days left to participate in the CDD Moodboard Challenge.  I was inspired by the sunny yellows in the lower left and the stripes on the cupcake liners in the upper right. Plus, the whole board is sweet as honey!  You can join the event and post there to play along or you can tag #cddmonthly. I hope to see you there!
