Believe In Magic

EK Gorman CDD 6-14Hey Divas! EK here to share a little watercoloring magic with you today. There has been a huge trend in 'watercoloring stamps' as of late, and it always baffles me. Any stamp can have the great water coloring marker effects, not just tiny little red rubber ones. Today, I pulled out the Whimsical Wishes stamp set and some of my watercolor makers. Now, I am not particular with my watercolor markers, and use several different brands and types. I really just reach for a color, not a brand when in comes to watercolor markers. For me, it is all in the quality of your paper, so I use high quality water paper. I also tend to use my stamping positioner tool as well as acrylic blocks, using the blocks for little parts and my MISTI for larger stamps.

I first stamped out the little mushroom girl using a pale skin tone for the entire stamp. I used the ink there to color in the skin tone, and then started adding color to the outfit.

I added blues to the the dots in the hat, and pinks to the rest of her hat and her pants.

Several green tones were add to the mushroom girl's hair so that she could have dimension in her locks.

Now some of you may feel that I am committing crafting sins, but I tend to lay water color marker down onto the lid of my stamp positioner, and pick up the color with my watercolor paint brush when adding shadows. I promise, that clean it afterwards, but while I'm crafting that acrylic lid is the perfect tool.

I used a pre-loaded watercolor brush to paint in the color of her eyes. as well as the gold in her belt.

Finally, more greens were added to her hair to add just a bit more dimension. I repeated similar steps for the mushroom house as well as the little mushrooms. Finally, I added some simple watercolor to create the ground and several shades to the sky to finish off this scene. I trimmed the card up a bit, and added a sheet of green card stock die cut with Fancy Frame dies. A couple Pink Droplets were added to the corners to finish off the card.

I hope you find some time to play with this new water color trend, experimenting with all your stamps.
